About the Job

We are hiring a Health and Safety Program Specialist  to join our Health and Safety team on the Mobilinx Project. This position reports to the Health and Safety Manager.

What You Will Be Doing?

  • The Health & Safety Program Specialist will play an integral role assisting the local management with day-to-day administration and continuity of the Health & Safety Management System.
  • Provides leadership and process advice to operations management at field level for H&S program implementation and able to troubleshoot & educate staff on system functionality.
  • Develop & maintain the Mobilinx Health & Safety Management System eCompliance. Including but not limited to training, statistical analysis, form & account management + training record logging.
  • Possesses strong H&S management system technical knowledge in all types of situations (project start up, duration and close out)
  • Obtains strong understanding of applicable client and regulatory requirements within their site and regulatory jurisdiction.
  • Proven ability to influence the thinking and actions of others without exercising direct authority at all levels of project hierarchy.
  • Develop & Maintain department budgeting & resource management (PR Tracking, Annual budget reviews, etc.)
  • Development & review of the health & safety program, legislation, and applicable safe work practices
  • Assist in the reporting of KPIs & monthly statistical data to key individuals & stakeholders including but not limited to TRIF, NLTIFR, LTIs, etc.
  • Support annual ISO45001 Audits
  • Support annual 3rd party desk & field audit by Infrastructure Health & Safety Association.
  • Conduct monthly internal COR program audits to ensure alignment with current field directives.
  • Review and document control of submitted inspections, incidents, and meetings
  • Learn and manage multiple safety software systems
    • eCompliance
    • Talent LMS
    • Digital Safety Board (Google Drive & Sharepoint)
    • FieldID
  •  Track and report on statistics (monthly as a minimum)
  •  Generate accurate monthly reports & consolidate & present information in an easily digestible format to various levels of management.
  •  Assist in the Early & Safety Return to Work Program as required
  •  Work with site management teams, local unions and other third-party providers to setup / schedule training as required
  •  Update employee profiles as new training is received / provided
  •  Manage the Subcontractor onboarding program including legal documents, training & competency, as well as Job Hazard Analysis quality checks.
  •  Prepare Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings packages and minutes for local managers / coordinators
  • Participate in and lead JHSC’s, including the inspection process as required
  •  Assist in the planning and development of events (i.e. safety stand down meetings) and their respective contractual requirements.
  •  Develop and communicate safety moments on a continuous basis
  • Occasional site visits / safety inspections for professional development / program understanding

What We Are Looking For?

  • 2-4 years’ work experience in a safety related position
  • Completion of formalized training in Excel and Word computer systems are considered an asset.
  • Experience with subcontractor management programs and pre-qualification processes considered an asset
  • Pursuit of CRSP, CSP or another HS&E designation
